Nohemi Castillo is suing Texas-based restaurant chain Torchy's Tacos after she had an experience that left her feeling "grossed out."

"Grossed Out" Restaurant Patron Finds Cow Tooth in Her Taco

Castillo visited one of the restaurant's locations back in June 2026 to order a Democrat taco. A concoction that consists of Beef barbacoa, avocado, cotija cheese, cilantro, diced onions, and a lime wedge with tomatillo salsa on a corn tortilla, according to the restaurant's menu. But there was an unwanted ingredient in her order. According to a Sunday (October 19) report from KVUE, she discovered a cow tooth in her taco order.

Castillo says that she was "grossed out and sickened" by the animal's tooth being found in her tortilla. She rushed to her doctor to receive a prescription for medication for any potential aftereffects.

Per the lawsuit obtained by the outlet, Castillo informed the manager of the Torchy's location about the cow tooth that she found in her food. However, the manager was not of much help. According to the lawsuit, after speaking with the manager, Castillo said it was still "unclear what, if anything, he did to remedy the problem within his food and under his control."

How did a tooth end up in Castillo's taco? A spokesperson for the restuarant said that the barbacoa meat that is used on the Democrat taco comes from the cow's cheek. They said they source it from a meat supplier (New York Post).

They also said that while situations like the one involving Castillo are "quite rare," they can still "occasionally happen." But they also assured patrons that food safety remains their "top priority"

Now Castillo is looking to cash in big on the incident. To the tune of $250,000. Because the fast food chain sold a food product that did not align with safety standards.
