Dentist Huffing And Driving With 107 Laughing Gas Cans
Houston police charged Pedlar with possession of volatile chemicals and eluding police after this strange prediciment. They caught wind of this after attempting to stop his vehicle going 44 mph in a 30 mph zone according to KHOU.
It turned into a chase after the dentist refused to stop. It took awhile before he finally pulled over and admitted to huffing, which means inhaling nitrous oxide. This is better known as laughing gas, which is what dentist patients often receive to relax during serious procedures.

The cops identified the dentist, who was also a professor of UT Health, possessing 107 nitrous oxide canisters in his vehicle. This is apparently something he enjoyed doing on the daily according to Precinct 1, which is especially dangerous when driving.
"It's a very sad situation of becoming a professional," said Alan Rosen, Houston Police Constable, to the outlet. "The very product that they use, 107 canisters is substantial, he had been using it while they were driving around."
The Constable said Pedlar admitted to this being a problem. Although sometimes used recreationally, if used excessively it can cause some detrimental health effects. Cleveland Clinic lists numerous health complications such as low blood pressure, nerve damage, and even heart attacks. It can also increase your risk of long-term health conditions like depression, memory loss, psychosis, and more.
Pedlar was soon taken into a jail after they cleared him medically. The judge set a $5,000 bond for each charge on Pedlar during court on Monday. After his arrest, the police took all the canisters of laughing gas to use as evidence in his case.
Unfortauntely, this hand't been the only time Pedlar was in trouble with the law. The cops arrested him in 2024 for possession of volatile chemicals. He had the same bond then, and the judge ordered that he get help at a treatment center.
Hopefully after these blunders, they can take away Pedlar's medical license so he cannot endager himself or others. It's not hard to imagine that he was also huffing while tending to patients.
