Delta Air Lines has partnered with startup JetZero to design a futuristic aircraft, and yet the internet would rather safely stay on the ground. The airline company described it as a "revolutionary" and "sustainable" aircraft set to take flight by 2027.

The photos shared look absolutely nothing like our typical aircraft. It has an "innovative blended-wing-body (BWB)" airplane that can fly commercially. It claims that it will help bring us to net-zero emissions by 2050, which is a lofty goal. The interior is also wildly futuristic and swanky, like something out of a sci-fi movie.
Internet Reacts To Delta Revealing Futuristic Aircraft Design
Although a plane that's 50% more fuel-efficient than any aircraft to date, the internet isn't sure how they feel about it. On a post by Pop Crave on X sharing the news, the replies are full of skepticism. "this isn't worrying at all," one comment said.
"Instead can they make safer planes," another wrote. Many of the comments shared this sentiment with how many plane crash incidents have occurred recently. In late January, a deadly aircraft collision at Reagan Airport had no survivors, killing over 60 passengers.
Then, in February, two planes collided at Seattle Airport. Disasters kept striking when another fatal airplane crash occurred at Georgia Airport, leaving two dead. No wonder the internet doesn't feel safe about flying in airplanes right now.
Despite many netizens not loving the new, sleek look of this futuristic plane, some people were excited about it. "This is a futuristic leap forward," one user wrote. Someone else commented on how happy they were that this project is in the works since they "care deeply about the environment."
Delta decided to partner with JetZero for those exact environmentally friendly reasons. Based in California, JetZero's BWB design is "vastly more fuel efficient." With Delta's aims to "advance industry innovation" and lower "cost through increased fuel-savings," they wholeheartedly believe in this design.
The airline also mentioned how making this design look good on the inside matters too. According to their news post, they hope to "elevate the customer experience" and aim to "carry more than 250 customers." Flyers should also notice how much quieter the aircraft will be. They plan to mount the engines on top of the aircraft "to be significantly quieter than existing aircraft."
Perhaps Delta's big move with JetZero will push other airlines to provide the same type of innovation. It seems the internet will just have to change with the times as we move into the future, despite how bonkers it looks.
