The wing of a Delta Airlines flight reportedly clipped the ground as it came in to land at LaGuardia Airport in New York City over the weekend.

According to a report by the Daily Mail, the Delta Airlines Bombardier CRJ-900 plane was traveling from Jacksonville, Florida, to New York City. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) says the airliner landed at around 10:10 PM, but the 'left wing struck the runway' while landing. The pilots 'executed a go-around' shortly after, which is a safe and routine maneuver where pilots abandon a landing, ascend to a designated height, and re-attempt the landing procedure.
Disturbingly, it appears as though the pilots were unaware that the aircraft wing hit the floor. Per a report by ABC, the Air Traffic Control Tower notified the plane crew that something had happened. Air Traffic Control radioed the pilots, saying, "Somebody saw some sparks from one of your wings. You guys feel anything?" The pilot responds, "We didn't, but we'll check it."
The outlet explains that weather conditions weren't extreme, although they were sub optimal. There was some mist in the air, with 35MPH gusts of wind. Delta Airlines released a statement per Aviation A2Z, explaining, "The Endeavor Air flight crew followed established procedures to safely enact a go-around at New York, LaGuardia. The aircraft landed safely and proceeded to its arrival gate. We apologize to our customers for the experience."
The Delta Flight Plane Is Out Of Service
Per ABC News, the CRJ-900 plane remains grounded at LaGuardia Airport and is currently out of service, with no indication of when that may change. There were reportedly 80 passengers and crew on board. Nobody was hurt during the incident, although the FAA is now investigating.
Multiple outlets have pointed out that Delta is the same Airline company whose plane flipped upside down in Toronto just last month. Horrifying footage caught by an eyewitness shows the plane touching down on an icy runway at Pearson International Airport. The plane hits the ground and tips to the right. The wing quickly catches fire, and the plane's body flips over as it slides across the ground.
Miraculously, nobody died in the incident despite the aircraft carrying 80 people. Authorities reported 18 people were hurt, and fortunately, none with life-threatening injuries.
