The NFL great discussed his battle with bladder cancer, which included 14 surgeries, during an appearance on Good Morning America.

"I've got my health back. I've got my swagger back," said Sanders. "Last year at this time I was fighting ?cancer, ?didn't know which way it ?was going to ?go. I'm fully back now. Last year at this time, it wasn't a good look.

"We fought the battle, and we won ?the battle fighting cancer. I'm cancer free. I'm good. Great doctors in Colorado ?who have brought me ?through. God has brought me through. ?I'm thankful I'm healthy."

Sanders, 58, was initially diagnosed with bladder cancer in April 2025. The diagnosis was made four years after Sanders was forced to amputate several toes due to severe blood clots.

Deion Sanders Will Resume Coaching Career

Now, with his cancer in remission, Sanders is also looking forward to resuming his coaching career at Colorado.

"I'm ready to go coach my butt off this ?season," Sanders said. "I'm having a good time."

With Sanders at the helm, Colorado has produced four NFL draftees, including former No. 1 pick Travis Hunter. Notably, Sanders' son, Shedeur, was drafted by the Cleveland Browns after teaming with his father at Colorado.

This smashes the previous record of $9.5 million earned by Tom Brady in the 2021 season.

With his health issues now behind him, Sanders also aims to continue developing future NFL talent at Colorado.

Sanders is 16-21 with one bowl appearance through his first ?three seasons ?in Boulder.
