Daycare Worker Caught Dunking Toddler Into Scalding Water

Surveillance footage at Young Mindz Learning Academy in Dekalb County, Gerogia showed a surprising scene. A daycare worker was changing a young boy's diaper and during the process she was caught dunking the toddler into scalding water.
The video showed the employee removing the diaper from the child, and then submerging him into the scalding water. Then, she held him in there for several minutes while other children were running around the area.
However, it appears that the daycare worker was unaware that she caused the child harm until it was too late. Once she removed the baby from the water she saw that the child was in pain. Then, she could be seen running around in a panic, unsure of how to handle the situation.
Naturally the child's mother, Sharece Besley, was not happy with the incident. Besley decided to sue sued the Young Mindz Learning Academy for the incident and damage done to her child.
A Lawsuit Ensues
Daily Mail shared some of Besley's sentiments about her poor child's recovery. She said that it took him a long time to heal form the burns. Additionally that it, "hurt him to urinate or when she tried to change his diaper." Her poor child was covered in blisters from being dunked in the too hot water. Then, his poor mother had to watch as medical professionals popped each one individually.
After hiring a Georgia injury attorney, Besley released the following statement to the Daily Mail. "No parent should have to fear for their child's safety when they leave childcare. What happened to Virgil never should have happened. Our lawsuit seeks justice for Virgil."
Investigation Leads To Further Insight
Upon investigation it appeared that the Young Mindz Learning Academy had broken some rules in addition to harming poor young Virgil. For example, it is the daycare's policy to use wet wipes when changing a child's diaper. However this employee focused on dunking the toddler in scalding water instead.
Furthermore, "Daycares are also required to have children under three in a separate area." The footage clearly shows various age children in the same space. From there, the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning investigated the incident. Their findings were as follows.
"The findings of this investigation substantiated that serious rule violations occurred which jeopardized the health and safety of a child in care." The notice that they released not only detailed the horrible incident of the daycare worker dunking a toddler in scalding water, but it also claimed the toddler was "spanked on his legs while the employee put his diaper on."
The daycare was issued a $499 fine for "violating two rules relating to inflicting abuse on a child and endangering their health and safety." Furthermore, the department informed the day care that if corrective measures were not taken to prevent future issues, the daycare could lose its liscense.
