Lilo & Stitch star Daveigh Chase passed away in June at 35 years old. Despite being a star in one of Disney's biggest hit movies, Chase was unhoused in Los Angeles at the time of her death. Still, she had a lucrative estate to the tune of $400,000. And now the late actress's father is looking to take control of said estate.

Daveigh Chase's Father Looking to Take Over Estate
Chase's father, John Schwallier, appeared in court last Thursday (July 30) and said that he would pursue control of the actress's estate with the help of an administrator.
"Subject to the appointment of Megan Boling as Administrator and her continued willingness to serve, I decline to serve," court docs obtained by Page Six read.
The filing comes after Chase's mother, Cathy Chase, said that she was seeking to become administrator over the estate.
Following her death, Chase's death was linked to complications from aids. Chase's mother said that the former child star began to walk down a darkened path after a motorcycle accident. The accident left her with back pain that had to be treated with the use of opioids. This ultimately led to her "partying with the wrong people."
"She was seeking drugs and was partying with the wrong people," she told the Mail (via The Hollywood Reporter). "I never kicked my daughter out. She wanted freedom, and these people got her hooked on some drugs. That was the beginning."
Cathy also denied being estranged from her daughter in any way despite reports. However, her boyfriend Roy Hernandez hit back against that claim. In a statement to TMZ, Hernandez said that she had a "falling out" with her family. He said that she struggled to find a safe space while being unhoused.
"After a difficult childhood and a painful falling out with her family, Daveigh was bullied and struggled to find safety and happiness in downtown L.A.," Hernandez said to the outlet. "When we met, I promised to protect her and give her the love and comfort she deserved. Together, we found moments of happiness and hope."
Both of Chase's parents are scheduled to appear in court in August for a hearing on the estate.
