Dave Grohl Reveals He Had To Rename Foo Fighters Album Because of 'Wicked': "So P*****"

Dave Grohl revealed he wanted to name his album a certain way, but the release of the hit musical 'Wicked' made him change things up.

You've probably seen the new Wicked film by now, Wicked: For Good. Especially if you have kids around. But, I never knew that a children's movie could get someone as frustrated as this.

But, I guess if it affects your artistic direction, then fair enough. Because Dave Grohl revealed that the new Wicked film caused him to have to change the title of Foo Fighters' 12th album. As reported by Billboard, the album that was released recently was called "Your Favorite Toy". But, it was going to have a different name.

Dave Grohl explained in an interview, "Actually, you know what I wanted to call the record? I wanted to call the record 'For Good', because that song, 'Your Favourite Toy,'... at first, I called it 'For Good'."

"In that song, 'Your Favorite Toy', it says, 'Get back, hear that boy? / Someone threw away / Your favorite toy for good'," Grohl explained. "Oh, that's a good, not only title for the song, but also for the album. It could have more than a few meanings, but I'm like, 'that's kind of nice.'"

And Then, Elphaba Took Main Stage: 'Wicked: For Good' Released

And then, the musical hit Wicked: For Good released, and it took the box office by storm. It ended up grossing over $500 million internationally over its period in the box office, breaking several records, according to Deadline.

Grohl's reaction was pretty funny, all considered. He explained, "And then that Wicked movie came out, and it's called Wicked: For Good, and I was so p*****!"

Obviously, in order to avoid opening the inevitable can of worms that would have followed, he had to make a few changes. "I changed the title of the song, and it just became the title of the album," he explained.

And so, "Your Favorite Toy" decided not to wrestle with the giants, and was (not so, in comparison anyways) quietly released on April 24. Grohl and the Foo Fighters plan on taking the stage at the Welcome to Rockville Festival on Friday, May 8.

We're sure things will turn out... Wicked.
