Dark Chocolate BBQ Sauce

Savory with a hint of spice, this Dark Chocolate BBQ Sauce goes great with pork ribs and pulled beef brisket. Such a fun flavor!

  • 1 Tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 5 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 Tbsp chili powder
  • 1 Tbsp ground cumin
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 Tbsp dark cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup coffee
  • 1/2 cup red wine vinegar
  • 3 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 2 Tbsp yellow mustard


  • In a large saucepan add the canola oil and heat over medium. Add in the onion and garlic cloves and cook until softened.
  • Add in the chili powder, cinnamon, cocoa powder, paprika, tomato sauce, brown sugar, coffee, red tine vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, molasses and yellow mustard. Bring to a simmer and cook until sauce is thickened, about 25 minutes.


This sauce can be refrigerated for up to two weeks.
Serve this sauce on pulled pork or brisket.
