He had previously been convicted of 13 charges, with the majority pertaining to sexual assault. Nathan was accused by three women, one of whom was 14 when the assault began. However, he was acquitted on some of the 13 charges.
"Chasing Horse, wearing his navy blue Clark County Detention Center uniform, stared straight ahead as victims read their statements. He denied the charges against him," Page Six has reported.
Nathan reportedly shared a brief message with the Judge on Monday, stating, "This is a miscarriage of justice."
While Nathan has now been convicted and charged, he still has charges in Canada pending.
"The British Columbia Prosecution Service said Chasing Horse was charged with sexual assault in February 2023," Page Six reported. "...In November 2023, the case paused due to Chasing Horse's charges in the United States, but resumed the following year."
Nathan still has an outstanding warrant in Alberta.
Nathan Chasing Horse Was Previously Banished From a Montana Reservation
According to The New York Post, Nathan was banished from a reservation in Montana in 2015. Roxanne Gourneau, who was one of the elected leaders at the reservation, provided a comment to the outlet in 2023, regarding Nathan's banishment.
"We'd heard reports and rumors of him being investigated on the outside and even though we couldn't verify [any outside investigation] ... we took matters into our own hands to protect our own people," Gourneau said at the time. "Now eight years after he was banished from us — eight years when he was allowed to go forth and destroy families and young women — he's finally been arrested."
While there are more charges pending, there's no clear information regarding what comes next for Nathan in that regard. However, as that continues to be figured out, the information will undoubtedly come to light.
For now, Nathan will likely begin serving his life sentence, with the chance that more years will be added on in the future.
