The Earnhardt family are teflon in the world of racing. What Junior and Senior have brought to NASCAR can't be disputed, among the most decorated in their field. However, with the tragic passing of his father, Dale Jr. finds it especially important to magnify the family name in racing wherever possible. He doesn't want to get swept up as just another name in the history books.

Recently, Dale spoke to fellow racer and philanthropist Cleetus McFarland on his Dale Jr. Download podcast. There, they tackle everything from NASCAR to aiding in relief for Hurricane Helene. During the conversation, Cleetus takes a moment to acknowledge how much the Earnhardt family has inspired him throughout his career. Moreover, he takes the 'Do it for Dale' slogan to heart in how he operates on a daily basis. Obviously, Junior takes this to heart and reflects on the importance of his father's legacy.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. Candidly Speaks on His Father's Legacy in Racing
Dale Jr. candidly expresses his fears of how history will handle his father's legacy. With more and more racers etching their names amongst the greats, it's easy to worry about the idea of people discrediting his father. "My fear is that he'll one day be forgotten with time. My worry would be that he would just disappear into the distance, right? As we get further and further removed from his career," Earnhardt says.
I was like, I just hope he's never forgotten, because he left such an impact on the sport. So that kind of thing, is the staying power. That is the reminder to me like, that he's... he resonated with people," he adds.
I think it goes without saying how much the Earnhardt name means to anyone who loves cars and racing. Anyone with even the slightest passing knowledge of NASCAR will echo their history when discussing the sport.
