29 Dairy Queen Locations in Texas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma Will Close

A typical American childhood includes a few particular things: the first Whataburger grilled cheese, the first ice-cold beer with your dad, and the first Dairy Queen Blizzard you turned upside down to find that it really did stay in that blue cup. The seasonal flavors, whether it was S'mores in the summertime, or Candy Cane Chill in the winter, always delighted you and don't even get us started on the classic vanilla ice cream cone with a hard chocolate shell. If you love classic Americana fast food chains, it just might break your heart to learn that 29 Dairy Queen locations across the Southwest will be closing.

As Business Insider reported, Vasari LLC that operates about 70 Dairy Queen locations in Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Texas filed for bankruptcy. The company, in its bankruptcy filing, stated it would close about 29 Dairy Queen locations. As it turns out, a few of the Texas locations were damaged in Hurricane Harvey and the company cannot afford to fix the storefronts with physical damage on the low prices Dairy Queen serves its customers.

Are any of your local stores on this list? It's a sad day for Texans everywhere.
