Matthew Livelsberger shot himself inside of a rented Cyberstruck shortly before the Cybertruck exploded in front of the Trump Hotel in Las Vegas. Police and FBI have been investigating the incident, looking for motives and to see if it should be considered a terror attack.

While the FBI originally assumed the attack was politically motivated, these recent findings may point to more personal reasonings. Initially, the FBI recognized the possibility of a political motive because of two key factors. First, it was outside of a hotel owned by President Donald Trump. Second, it occurred in a vehicle made by one of Trump's closet allies, Elon Musk.

However, with this new information of a recent split from his wife, FBI are now entertaining the idea of personal motive as well. The NY Post reports that Livelsberger's wife "broke up with him six days before he killed himself." Sources close to the family shared that the break up was caused by infidelity.

According to those sources, Livelsberger's wife found out he had been cheating on her and ended the relationship because of it. After the argument and split, he left his Colorado Springs home. From there, he rented the Cybertruck that was used in the explosion. Afterwards, he made his way to the Trump hotel, detonated the explosives in his truck, and shot himself.

Personal Or Political?

While it was natural to assume the Cybertruck explosion could have been politically motivated, law enforcement is now starting to second-guess. Although many people in the United States are not fans of Donald Trump and Elon Musk, Livelsberger was apparently not one of them.

Sources share that he was a staunch Trump supporter and an avid patriot. If he supported President Trump, why would he target him in a political attack? Furthermore, police are now playing with the possibility that the Cybertruck was chosen for safety. Even after the massive explosion, most of the exterior of the car remained in tact.

Although the Cybertruck explosion happened right in front of the Trump hotel doors, the glass doors were unaffected. The design of the Cybertruck allowed it to contain the majority of the blast. Perhaps, Livelsberger chose this vehicle to limit civilian causalities. He wanted to end his life, and make a statement, without hurting others.

Musk tweeted, "The evil knuckleheads picked the wrong vehicle for a terrorist attack. Cybertruck actually contained the explosion and directed the blast upwards."

While a motive has not been confirmed, police are definitely taking into account that he and his wife broke up just days before the attack.
