Ep. 30 Curtis Grimes

Curtis Grimes is a country artist from Texas and a season one contestant on The Voice. Grimes has released four studio albums, including his recent project Undeniably Country.

Grimes grew up in Gilmer, a small town in northeast Texas that has produced Eagles co-founder Don Henley, blues legend Freddie King, Johnny Mathis and others. There must be something in the water in Gilmer...

Prior to launching his music career, Grimes was chasing dreams of becoming a professional baseball pitcher. He compares the focus and skill of being a pitcher to his approach to country music —  a topic we touch on midway through our conversation.

Since he began playing country in San Marcos, Texas back in the early 2010's, Grimes has become a mainstay of  Texas music scene, and a notable country artist across the nation.

On today's show, Grimes and I talk about his upbringing, experience on The Voice, and the steps that led to his latest record, which finds Grimes at his most relaxed and personal best.
