The Woman Was A Passenger on the Nieuw Amsterdam Cruise Ship

While authorities have not revealed the woman's identity, Holland Line Cruises confirmed to People that she was a passenger on one of their ships.

They told the outlet in a statement, "Holland America Line regrets to confirm that a passenger onboard Nieuw Amsterdam passed away following a tragic incident on a personal watercraft. The guest, a 73-year-old woman, died on March 22 while the ship was calling at Half Moon Cay, The Bahamas."

Cruise.Blog explains that the ship was on the final day of a week-long voyage. The ship's return to Fort Lauderdale was delayed as the ship stayed in Half Moon Cay after the accident.

The incident in the Bahamas is the latest in a list of cruise-related deaths that have made headlines this month. On March 17, a woman jumped to her death from the Majestic Princess cruise ship as it traveled from New Zealand to Sydney. The unnamed passenger reportedly suffered from grief depression. Deputy State Coroner David O'Neil said, "She spiraled into depression and told people that she didn't want to live anymore. The grief, coupled with the physical pain that she was in, caused her to experience suicidal ideation."

In a separate incident, Kimberly Burch, the fiancee of rock star and Faster Pussycat lead singer Taime Downe, reportedly fell to her death on a Royal Caribbean Cruise. A rescue team tried to find her but was unsuccessful. Eyewitness footage revealed that the visibility was extremely poor as it was pitch black during the night.
