Shakira is set to follow in the footsteps of fellow global superstars by headlining "Todo Mundo no Rio." Lady Gaga and Madonna have also drawn millions of people when sitting atop of the setlist for the popular free concert.
On Sunday, April 26, before the news of the crew member's death became public, Shakira posted about the event to her Instagram account. The "Hips Don't Lie" singer was topless, covered by a large hand-held fan, smiling at the camera.
"Almost there, Rio!!! Prepping so many surprises for you: guest artists, new wardrobe, songs you'll love to hear... Can't wait to be there," she wrote. "... no altar do planeta!!"
Unfortunately, the build-up to the event will now be more somber. However, with millions of fans expected to tune into the event, either in person or online, the show is expected to continue. Nevertheless, a tribute to the crew member will likely be expected.
