"Twofold. Recruiting was worse than it had ever been in the history of our nation," Morgan explains on Fox & Friends. "It was terrible, and I felt like I could bring something to the table to help with that. Secondly, I had 17 and a half years, and I never got a letter that said, 'Thank you for your service.' I wanted that retirement letter so bad, so this was an opportunity for me to do that."
When Morgan reenlisted, Joe Biden was still President of the United States. But now, with Donald Trump as the president, Morgan is even prouder to serve his country.
"I never joined the Army for a president," Morgan maintains. "You join the army to serve your country. Any service member will tell you that. But it is nice to know that you have a President of the United States that truly cares about the men and women who are serving Our Secretary of Defense truly cares about those men and women. These are people who have our interests, first and foremost."
Craig Morgan's American Soundtrack
Morgan is now part of the army, but he is still pursuing his music career. The 60-year-old, who is currently on tour with Blake Shelton, recently released his latest EP, American Soundtrack.
"I'm excited about it because it's new music," Morgan tells Wide Open Country. "It's what we do for a living, so anytime we get to put out new music and appease our fan base and hopefully increase our fan base by giving them something to listen to, that's what we do. And we love it. I personally love doing new music."
"These are songs about what I believe are the cornerstones, it's my foundation - God, family, country," he continues. "It's what I've always talked about and sung about and what I believe the majority of people in this nation believe in and celebrate. These songs really touch all of those things better than I've ever done it before."
