When Chad Prather received messages complaining about his usage of words like "ya'll, ma'am, and gonna," he was driven to respond to their accusations that he sounded "uneducated." In this two-minute video, Prather eloquently but firmly explains how and why he uses those Southern slang terms.
He makes it clear he has no intention or interest in ever changing his habits, as they were instilled in him throughout his life in the South. He proudly explains how good manners, respect for his elders and the women in his life will always have a place in his life and in the south's culture in general. It's clear this cowboy has no intention of making any apologies.
Anyone who grew up in the South, or just appreciates the culture, will want to shake this man's hand. His comeback is so excellent because of the smart way he chooses to address his critics. Instead of fighting fire with fire, Prather stays a Southern gentleman throughout, even during those moments when he bluntly disregards those who belittle his intelligence just because of the words he uses.
Props to this cowboy for taking the high road and still showing why Southern culture is something to be appreciated, not insulted.
