Couple Sues JetBlue After Giant Chunk Of Ice Smashes Through Their Bedroom

While enjoying a peaceful evening, a couple in Inglewood, California, were shocked to hear a huge piece of ice come smashing through their roof. The watermelon-sized chuck of ice had allegedly fallen from a JetBlue plane, and the couple are planning to sue.

The lawsuit states that the JetBlue plane was already known to be faulty. A flange that connects a water tank was broken. It was this that caused the enormous chunk of ice to come slamming through their roof from the plane.

Now, the couple is looking to sue, saying they have emotional damage from the ice, as well as structural damage to their home. They are looking to get $1 million for the damages. These include $300,000 for emotional distress; $300,000 for pain, suffering, and inconvenience; $40,000 in medical expenses, and $360,000 in property damages.

Falling Plane Ice Uncommon But Not Unheard Of

The ice that came smashing into the couple's home is not the first case that the company has had someone sue for. The same plane was suspected of dropping ice on a house in Massachusetts in 2023. The lawsuit the couple has put forward alleges that it is the same plane.

The couple, understandably, feel nervous about being in their home now. They claim they wanted to sue, not only because of the damage done to their house but also their sleep. The ice came smashing through their roof just above their bed.

Now, they are afraid to sleep in their bedroom, worrying they might get pulped by more plane ice. This would be some Final Destination level misfortune, but stranger things have happened. Knowing your house is directly beneath faulty plane flight paths isn't ideal.

The couple, Reese and Ferrarini, plan to move from their home. They no longer feel safe and think it is up to JetBlue to pay for their relocation. They plan to sue for the ice incident and get enough to buy a whole new property by the looks of it.

At this time, JetBlue has not spoken out about the incident. However, they have said that the safety of all their planes is paramount. Being hit by falling ice is a rare occurrence, but one that could be profitable if you're happy to sue.
