Thirty country stars from past and present come together in the video for "Forever Country."
The Country Music Association created the song and accompanying video in celebration of the 50th Annual CMA Awards, which will air in November.
The song is a mashup of John Denver's "Take Me Home, Country Roads," Dolly Parton's "I Will Always Love You" and Willie Nelson's "On the Road Again." Artists featured on the track include modern stars like Dierks Bentley, Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert and older luminaries like Charlie Pride, Willie Nelson and George Strait. Each artist takes a line from the songs.
All 30 of the singers who participated in the event appear in the video, which debuted on Tuesday night on Forevercountry.com. Randy Travis and Ronnie Milsap also make special appearances in the clip. Directed by Grammy-award winning director Joseph Kahn, the video aims to tell the story of country music from the past 50 years.
"This would have never been able to be done in any other genre of music," Kahn said before the premiere, according to Taste of Country. "It blew my mind. We didn't have one temper tantrum, we didn't have one person late. Everybody came, did their job."
