The country music community was shocked by a terrible loss today. Troy Gentry, one half of the popular country duo Montgomery Gentry, was killed in a helicopter crash earlier today (Sept. 8). He was 50 years old.
Many country stars took to social media to share their messages of sadness and disbelief. The hit was especially painful, as the news of country legend Don Williams' passing also broke at the same time. Since 1999, Montgomery Gentry has made a big impact on modern country music. The sudden loss of Troy Gentry and his immeasurable talents is being felt across the genre and beyond.
The world changed today. Country music lost both a Friend and a Hero. Troy Gentry and Don Williams, you both will be dearly missed..
