Country Star’s Daughter Rushed to Hospital Amid Dangerous Post-Surgery Complications

The country star revealed that she had only been out of the operating room for two weeks when she had to be taken back to hospital.

Rory Feek's 12-year-old daughter, Indiana, was rushed back to the hospital amid post-surgery complications. As reported by Taste of Country, the country star's daughter had undergone open-heart surgery just two weeks ago.

She was rushed into emergency surgery to drain fluid from around her heart. This was a complication from her original open-heart surgery.

The country star released a blog post explaining what exactly happened in the ordeal. "On Thursday morning, we were on the bedroom floor with Indy in our arms - crying, begging her to wake up..." the post reads.

That sounds so scary—but wait till you hear the details.

Feek Had To Take Her to the Hospital

Indiana's initial symptoms were pretty mild. The Feeks just thought she was suffering from a stomach bug—frustrating and painful, sure, but nothing much to worry about, right?

Her symptoms between Wednesday, July 8 and Thursday, July 9 were getting more and more severe. The country star wrote that Indiana just kept throwing up and had spells of light-headedness.

But then, the scary part... "And after another vomiting session and trip to the bathroom, she had passed out as we were walking her back to bed. And we couldn't get her to wake up."

Of course, it's a terrifying ordeal. He explained it wasn't something he was comfortable going into detail about, but they were "crying" and "begging for help."

The country star added that "neither Rebecca [his wife], nor I, have been as scared in our lives as we were Thursday morning. I can hardly think it, let alone write it, but we thought we had lost her."

Luckily, the surgery was a success. Surgeons explained that "as soon as the drain went in, her heart rate immediately went back to normal."

Why Was the Country Star's Daughter Having Open-Heart Surgery?

Well, as we reported, the reason comes down to Indiana's condition.

As he explained, she has Down syndrome. Feek said that doctors estimate around half of people with the condition suffer from "heart issues", with "some being worse than others."

"We've always known that open heart surgery was a possibility," the country star wrote. "But this last appointment in January confirmed that it was something that was going to be needed to be done, sooner than later."

We're glad she's feeling better and hope her road to recovery is smooth.
