Country star Brad Paisley was moved to tears during his solo rendition of his famous duet with Dolly Parton following her death.

Days after the Queen of Country died of cancer, Paisley delivered a touching tribute to Parton in Bridgeport, Connecticut, on Thursday, performing their collaboration "When I Get Where I'm Going."
Following his performance, Paisley detailed the emotional origins of the hit song.
"When I recorded that song and sent it to Dolly, I said, 'A couple of people in my life I've lost, and I didn't know if this would relate to you,'" Paisley told the crowd at Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater. "She immediately said, 'Yes, let me sing on that,' and did."
"When I Get Where I'm Going" conceptualizes reuniting with fallen loved ones in the afterlife.
Paisley, who became choked up, admitted that the song has been especially emotional since the passing of the "Jolene" singer.
"I never thought it would be about her, but it is," he admitted. "It's everything she believed, and we will always love you, Dolly."
A photo of the late country icon smiling then appeared on screen, with text that read, "We Love You Dolly." Several more photos of Parton alone and with Paisley appeared on the screen during the Thursday performance of "When I Get Where I'm Going."

On Friday, Aug. 28, Kacey Musgraves honored the late singer-songwriter with a rendition of her song "Here You Come Again" during a show at Boston's TD Garden.
The heartfelt tributes to Parton extend beyond the stage, with several musicians expressing their condolences on social media.
Miley Cyrus, Parton's goddaughter, penned an emotional tribute to the late Country Music Hall of Famer on Aug. 26 via Instagram.
"The feeling of losing my Aunt Dolly is beyond what feels right to share. Our most sacred moments were private. They'll stay there behind the stage, beneath the glamour and between our hearts."
"I will always love her and want to make her proud. My heart breaks for the world, her family and friends who will miss her deeply. We're in this loss together. We will see her in all of the most beautiful things."
