Darius Rucker has opened up about his plans to retire. And, as reported by Whiskey Riff, he's been pretty clear on when and where he wants to do it.
The country star explained in an interview on the Dan Patrick Show that he had been working his butt off for a while now. "I played 110 shows last year... what am I doing?" he joked.
That's a pretty crazy statistic in itself, right? Especially for a 60-year-old. All that touring and traveling must suck.
So, he was pretty clear about what he wanted to do. He agreed with Dan Patrick's plan to retire in about two years. "I'm retiring in two years... I might. I've been really looking at it... I still like making records and playing and everything, but I'm really starting to be at home a lot. I like being at home a lot."
Me too, Darius. Me too.
But he wouldn't want to end his legendary music career quietly - the "Come Back Song" singer would want to go out with a bang. In his words, "I'm looking at maybe doing a tour - one more big Hootie thing, and calling it."
A Hootie and the Blowfish run to finish it all off would be legendary.

He Was Clear About His Last Show Prior to Retirement
But Darius Rucker is a man who knows what he wants - he added that he's 100% sure about where he wants his last show to be.
Where, you ask? "We have to finish at Williams-Brice Stadium," he exclaimed. "Our last show, when we say we're done, it's gotta be at Williams-Brice Stadium."
If you're not a South Carolina native or a college football fan, you might not know where that is. The stadium is in Columbia, South Carolina, and is the home of the South Carolina Gamecocks.
And it makes sense. Rucker, as a Charleston native and long-time resident, would want to end things close to his home! I think it would be a welcome home reunion, too. Especially as he packed his bags to London, England, last year.
While we're sad to see him go (or at least the prospect of it!), we hope he has a great retirement, whenever and wherever it may be.
