Country star Brad Paisley has opened up about a heartwarming story involving Dolly Parton and her husband Carl Dean. And, as reported by Whiskey Riff, it's certainly a doozy.
Any fans of Dolly Parton know that her husband wasn't exactly keen to be in the spotlight. Dolly's explained on several occasions that he wasn't exactly prepared for her stardom.
Per Us Magazine, he'd plain refused to go to one of her ceremonies one time, and she "respected" that. She'd taken him to her 1967 BMI Song of the Year Award ceremony, and he wasn't a fan of the whole thing.
"He said [after getting home], 'Look, now, I want you to do everything you want to do and I wish you the best, but don't ever ask me to go to another one of these damn things because I ain't going.'"
But, as Brad Paisley's story shows, he was still very happy to help her out in other ways. The former duet partner of Dolly Parton said that while Carl Dean was "happy to be in the shadows," he had driven her around during the filming of When I Get Where I'm Going.
He recalled, "She was in here a while. We walked around and talked in the house and had a great day. And she went out to get in the car, and I see him waving. He didn't even come in! He was just so happy to drive her around. And she got in the car, and she drove away."

The Country Star Also Recalled How Dolly Parton Helped Him
"Dolly would do anything she believed in," Paisley explained. "When I cut 'I Get Where I'm Going', I said, 'I'm cutting this, but I need something that takes it into the angelic realm', and so I sent it to Dolly and said, 'Would you sing this with me?' She wrote back, 'Absolutely.'"
If that isn't the most Dolly thing you've ever heard, I don't know what is. She was always so happy and willing to elevate any country song she truly saw potential in... and every single time, it turned out wonderful. What a true treasure she was!
