Country Star Goes on Lengthy Rant Against President Trump

This controversial singer took to social media to call out President Trump, calling him names and accusing him of destroying democracy.

It was back in 2003 when Natalie Maines of The Chicks (formerly the Dixie Chicks) spoke out against a sitting United States President.

Now history is repeating in 2026. Maines took to social media to accuse President Donald Trump of decimating democracy, calling him a "fugly slut."

What Did The Chicks' Natalie Maines Say About President Donald Trump?

In a message posted on Instagram, the 51-year-old member of The Chicks shared a scathing message directed at President Trump.

"Our democracy is disappearing right before our eyes," she wrote. "This fugly slut is using your gas money to pay the insurrectionists. But don't worry about it. I'm sure posting selfies will fix everything. My last post that called him a fugly slut got removed. We'll see how long this one lasts. Repost and help the message live. Named 1M times in the Epstein files."

The strong words were paired with a carousel of images that included a portrait of President Trump and pictures of the January 6 rioters at the U.S. Capitol. You can see the post on TMZ.

This Feels Like 2003

Maines has been down this road before, and it almost cost The Chicks their career. Before a concert in London, England, in 2003, Maines spoke out against then-President George W. Bush and the possibility of the United States invading Iraq.

"Just so you know, we're on the good side with y'all," she said to the audience. "We do not want this war, this violence. And we're ashamed the President of the United States is from Texas."

The backlash was swift and savage. Fans called country music radio stations demanding that The Chicks' music no longer be played. Fans destroyed their albums. Others called for the boycott of the group's latest album and its tour.

It would be years before The Chicks would release another album. It wasn't that long ago when the opinionated John Rich of Big and Rich mentioned the incident when he chided Zach Bryan for his controversial single, "Bad News."

"Who's ready for the Zach Bryan-Dixie Chicks tour?" he wrote on X. "Prob a huge Bud Light sponsorship for this one."
