"Been a touring artist for 10+ years and I've NEVER had to cancel a show due to low ticket sales til today. It's an industry-wide problem right now," she wrote in the caption. "Bummed to miss Greenville and Nashville, but we will be back, and the rest of this tour is still a go. If you're planning on coming to a show on the album release tour, grab your tickets, and we'll see you soon."
River's post also included a video of her directly addressing her fanbase.
"Hey, party people," River said. "I just got off the phone with my booking agent, and the first two shows on this upcoming run in Greenville and Nashville are being canceled due to low ticket sales. I could give you all a bulls--t reason about my van breaking down or whatever, but I'm not going to start lying to you all now. In case you didn't know, this is an industry-wide problem right now. The rest of the tour will carry on as planned."
River Shook's Fans Showed Her Support in the Comments Section
Despite the news, River's fans remained supportive, sharing uplifting messages in her comments section.
"I'm sorry... I can't believe Nashville of all places... but sidenote, you look really great!!! Your skin is poppin!' Happy and healthy!" One user noted.
"Aw dang! Was looking forward to seeing y'all. Hope you can get back to Nashville sooner rather than later," another fan said in the comments section.
Another fan noted that they've been seeing shows get canceled a lot recently and that it wasn't just River.
"I've been seeing it everywhere I go and everywhere I've played," the fan said. "It's a bummer. I hope that the rest of your tour goes great."
River will undoubtedly be hoping that the next time she books tour dates in Greenville and Nashville, she's able to perform in front of her fans. Furthermore, let's all hope that the current ticket sales slump is short-lived, so that we don't miss out on seeing world-class artists when they're touring.
