Country Star Arrested on Drug and Gun Charges, Misses Headlining Festival

The country star was set to headline a country festival, but was arrested thousands of miles away. Fans were expectedly disappointed.

Country star BigXthaPlug has been arrested on drug and gun charges in Texas. Per Whiskey Riff, he was slated to headline the Country Rising festival in Winnipeg.

He was arrested in his home state of Texas by the Allen Police Department. There, he was booked and charged with driving while intoxicated, marijuana possession of less than two ounces, and unlawful possession of a firearm.

This caused a pretty big upset for festival-goers. He was slated to headline Canada's Country Rising festival. It's pretty darn difficult to perform at a concert that's across a whole continent!

The Country Rising festival touts itself on its website as "a one-day festival featuring artists redefining country music". They put out a statement about how the country star wouldn't be available on social media.

"Due to a personal emergency, BigXthaPlug will unfortunately no longer be able to perform at Country Rising Winnipeg tonight." They added, "We're seriously bummed too," but expressed support for the other country artists.

Fans were expectedly frustrated, especially as the announcement came so suddenly. One referenced his song "Texas", writing, "I need the biggest, the largest refund asap."

The Country Star Was Able To Perform at the Iowa State Fair Despite Being Arrested

Despite everything, it turns out that the country star managed to get his affairs in order. He was slated to perform at the Iowa State Fair on the night of August 22—and he managed to do it.

Per Rolling Stone, this came after the organizers said that they were "in communication with his agent". They had explained they had "been told he will still be performing".

And that's exactly what happened, per the Des Moines Register. It turns out he was released on bail on the same day he performed - Saturday. Per the article, the country star "appeared unfazed" as he went straight into his songs, belting out hit after hit.

He also told the audience about his experience. "When I was in Collin County," he recalled, "I was praying hard. I was like, 'Please let me make it to Des Moines, Iowa!'"

Well, it's a good thing he managed to make it - at least only one set of fans was disappointed, rather than two!
