Facebook Marketplace is one of those liminal places. You'll find everything you could ever ask for on there. Whether it's a rare find you'll just never find anywhere else, or yet another dusty mirror, it's truly a spectacle to behold.
But it turns out that even the greats sometimes want to get in on the action. And that's exactly what Riley Green did, per People. He had been angling for a Gibson J-45, and ended up buying one on Facebook Marketplace.
The guitar is known for its warm sound, and is a classic in the country scene. But, for seller Shane Allen, he didn't want to get rid of it. He
"Didn't really wanna sell this girl," Allen wrote. "But thought I would throw it on marketplace. When I got to the place that I agreed-upon meeting spot, it turned out to be Riley Green himself who was interested in buying it."
That's right - he came to pick up the guitar himself! For someone with as much money as Riley Green, it would have been so simple to get someone else to collect it.

The Facebook Marketplace Seller Didn't Expect It
Of course, country artists are typically quite down to earth at the best of times. But, something as off-the-cuff as this surprised Allen. He wrote, "This guy didn't have to meet up with this regular Joe."
"Heck, he could have sent anybody to buy my guitar! Instead he invited me to meet him."
Despite him not wanting to sell his guitar, he admitted that "when I seen that he was the one buying it, well it made selling it feel a little better!"
People in the comments thought the whole thing was equal parts hilarious and heartwarming. One commenter wrote, "This might be the first catfish where there was a positive outcome!".
Another joked, "Anyone got a guitar I can borrow to put on market place? (Hubby, if you see this, I'm just kidding!)".
This is a really nice story, but I have to wonder - will we be seeing it on tour?
