Country Singer Speaks Out After Breaking His Leg Backstage at Show

The country star took to social media to explain what happened. He said that despite everything, he "should probably let this thing heal."

Lots of things can go wrong during a show - especially if you're the rockstar type. But one thing you don't typically expect is a broken leg. Well, that's what happened to country star Billy Strings toward the end of his set in Charlottesville, Virginia.

As reported by People, the incident happened on Saturday, April 18. Billy Strings was attempting to do a backstage skateboarding trick when it all went wrong. He's had to postpone some other tour dates because of the injury.

He posted a statement on social media detailing exactly what happened that fateful night. It begins, "Well, can't say y'all didn't warn me about screwing around on my skateboard!! Saturday night I walked off stage right before the encore. I was all zazzed up from a really fun show." His shows do look pretty fun, to be fair to him. I don't know if I'd personally be hitting skateboard tricks, but that's his choice.

The statement continued, "I grabbed my board and tried to do a trick I've done a million times (back 180) and landed awkwardly and broke my leg. I heard it snpa over the screaming crowd!! Sounded like a d*** 2x4." That sounds extremely painful.

Billy Strings Said He Wanted to "Dave Grohl" It

But, despite the crazy amount of pain he must have been in, he still wanted to keep going. Billy Strings said, "I had every intention of carrying on with the tour and Dave Grohling it. He even texted me and offered me the throne!"

In case you're not aware, this in-joke calls back to a time that Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl broke his leg in 2015. The band ended up having a throne built for him, which he used throughout the tour, according to Yahoo! Entertainment.

But, despite all his pleas with his family and doctors, he made a very fair decision. "I really don't want to let anybody down, but after some long talks with these doctors, my friends, band and colleagues, my wife etc.. I should probably let this thing heal."

Billy Strings also branded his actions a "dumb ass mistake", but said, "at least I didn't hit my head or break my wrist or something." We hope he feels better soon!
