Thomas Rhett is going deaf in one ear. The "Die A Happy Man" singer made the revelation when appearing on the "The Sounds Fun" podcast, hosted by Annie F. Downs.

"I'm kind of going deaf in this ear a little bit," Rhett admitted. "I had to go get hearing aids as a 35-year-old man. I wore them for like a week...I'm sitting there just messing with the functions on my phone. I'm like, 'Noise cancel, noise cancel,' and when I take them out I'm like, 'Okay, this is normal again.' I just stand there, and I'm like, 'This is insanity.'"
Rhett was joined by his wife, Lauren Akins, for the episode. She joked that when Rhett first had his hearing aids fitted, he struggled with how loud it was at home.
"He was like, 'I can't think straight. It's so loud.' I was like, 'Babe, welcome,'" Akins joked
Unfortunately for Rhett, things at home are about to get even louder. Akins is awaiting the birth of the couple's fifth child. Akins and Rhett already have Lillie Carolina (4), Lennon Love (6), Ada James (8) ad Willa Gray (10).
No wonder the noise levels came as a surprise.

One of the more amusing moments in the podcast appearance was when Rhett joked about how he deals with the chaos that comes with having four children around the house.
"(I'm) Like, can we just book some dates in March? I don't care where they are. We'll go," Rhett joked. "I will come sing at your kids' birthday at this point. As long as it's a three-day birthday."
He was clearly joking. And, even if he wasn't with a fifth child on the way, he will be needed at home more than ever. When asked about the impending birth, Rhett noted that this baby will likely be their last.
"I mean, five has kind of always been our number," he said. "Anything above five, we will have to get a Sprinter van."
Hopefully, the hearing aids will help sustain his hearing ability for years to come. After all, even with five kids in tow, the world will want to hear more music from him in the future.
