One of the worst things that can happen to you as a singer is an issue with your vocal cords. After all, they're your money makers - you can't sing without them. And procedures involving them can be very, very painful, but you've gotta do what you gotta do, right? Well, country star Aaron Watson can personally explain just how painful the surgery can be.
As reported by Taste of Country, Watson had to experience double vocal cord surgery quite recently. But, this isn't even his first time! "Man, the last four years I've two vocal chord surgeries. And it kinda made me push the pause button multiple times." I don't blame him - two surgeries in four years?
Vocal fold surgeries are typically quite uninvasive, but the whole thing does make my hairs stand on end. It's basically where a surgeon shoves a tube through the mouth and down the throat to get a good look at what might be wrong with your vocal folds. And then small little instruments or laser tools are used to fix the issues. But, at least you're knocked out for the whole thing.
In any case, it's given Aaron Watson a new lease on life. He said "Coming out of that, I'm doing great now. I have a new-found appreciation for my career, for the fans... life is short." Fair enough! He even said that he's "gonna be all up in country music's kitchen for the next five years."

Aaron Watson Recently Released a New Album
But, he's been cooking in that kitchen before then. While he never gave specifics about when his vocal fold surgery was, we know he must have had it before March 6th. That's because he released the excellent 26-track album Horse Named Texas on that day.
Aaron Watson said that the album "is Chapter One for the next five years, the five year plan. The house is paid off and the kids are grown, I'm about to go for broke." He even hinted that his "Platinum" edition of Horse Named Texas will have a staggering 40 tracks!
He also said he had nowhere else to go but the country music kitchen. In any case, we are so excited for what he's got cooking up for us next!
