Country Singer Craig Morgan Reveals Why He's Re-Enlisting in The U.S. Army

I don't know if I would have it in me to leave a cozy, creative gig in country music to serve in the U.S. military. Sure, musicians don't really get benefits or anything but I'm also not risking my life for the sake of my country either. It takes a tremendous amount of courage and firm fearlessness to take all that on willingly. Craig Morgan already did it once before, he doesn't have to go back for more. But he insists that it's his honor and duty to serve in the U.S. Army Reserve once again. How come?

Recently, Morgan spoke on Fox & Friends, where he opens up about why he decided to come back and continue serving for the U.S. military. He gives out two key reasons, one of which was more selfless, something much bigger than himself. The latter shows something a bit more personal to himself. "Recruiting was worse than it had ever been in the history of our nation. It was terrible, and I felt like I could bring something to the table to help with that," Craig says.

"Secondly, I served 17 years and I never got a letter that said, 'Thank you for your service.' I wanted that retirement letter so bad. So this was an opportunity for me to do that."

Craig Morgan Shares What Inspired Him to Re-Enlist in The U.S. Army

On a more personal level, it's hard to fault him if Morgan wants a more formal retirement. Craig already gave himself to the U.S. Army, it makes sense for him to finish what he started. As for the matter of recruitment, it seems like it's already working out in his favor. In a post from The White House, they share that people are clearly more patriotic than ever. The recruiting numbers are the highest they've been in over a decade under the Trump regime.

Craig insists that his reasoning behind rejoining the military doesn't come from a presidential sign of approval. But he doesn't shy away from the encouragement he feels from a president that he feels represents the military's best interests. "I used to tell people, and I still do, 'I never joined the army for a president. You join the army to serve your country.' Any service member will tell you that," Morgan says. "But it is nice to know that you have a President of the United States that truly cares about the men and women who are serving. Our Secretary of Defense truly cares about those men and women. These are people who have our interest first and foremost."
