Maren's latest comments came via TikTok, where she responded to a fan who had commented about the need to find the right audience for her music. She quickly turned her attention to the artists within the scene, noting how the atmosphere at award shows can be "very dicey" and that people within the industry don't seem to get along.
"Like, no one is very friendly. Some people are cool, but it's been very dicey at these award shows and s—. And I don't really go to them anymore, but it's been very heated...And I try to be kind. I try to be benevolent. But there are people and energies in the sphere of my work the last few years that have really put me off. So I've stepped away in certain facets, but I still love country music, obviously."
It seems that Maren genuinely has no problem speaking her mind, regardless of who she offends or how difficult her words make it to exist in the country music space.
Maren Morris Previously Compared Country Music to an Abusive Relationship
Maren's latest comments build on a previous rant, where she likened the country music scene to that of an abusive relationship.
"I hate feeling like I need to be the hall monitor of treating people like human beings in country music," Maren told the Los Angeles Times in 2022. "It's exhausting. But there's a very insidious culture of people feeling very comfortable being transphobic and homophobic and racist."
It's hard to imagine too many members of the country scene rushing to be buddies with Maren with comments like that, especially when they've been so frequent throughout the years. With all the talk of fanbases, it does make you wonder how many country artists are part of Maren's, after all, she keeps finding reasons to take shots at the entire industry.
