Country star Floyd Brown has passed away at the age of 79 after a tragic battle with cancer. As reported by The Mirror, he passed away on Tuesday, June 9.
His niece, Dara Stuart, confirmed the news of his passing on social media. She referred to him as "one of the greatest".
He was most well-known as a legend in the Baton Rouge, Louisiana music scene. His most iconic songs included "Kiss Me Just One More Time", "I Can't Sleep If I Can't Sleep With You", and "There Lies The Difference".
He was known for merging swamp pop and country, gaining him legendary status across Louisiana. He originally shot into stardom in the 80s when he won the Nashville Network talent competition, You Can Be A Star.

The country singer has received tributes from country musicians and fans alike.
Baton Rouge musician Chase Tyler posted a touching tribute to the country star. "Floyd was a mentor early in my career. He was always a sweetheart to me and very encouraging to the younger artists coming up behind him."
He added, "It's a shock for everyone. I don't think anyone saw it coming."
Fans also posted heartfelt messages on social media. "RIP Floyd! Sympathies to his family!!!!! He definitely was a legend," one wrote. Another referred to him as "The voice!" They added, "We will miss him and the music, but the music and the memories will live on forever as it already has for generations in my family! Prayers to his family!"
