The music world has seen its share of band breakups, but this one between Leo Brooks and Andrew Millsaps, the country duo Neon Union, might be the least dramatic.

The "Beer Up" singers made the announcement over social media. They shared that while the duo may be done performing as Neon Union, they're still friends. In fact, they are planning on working together creatively.
Why Is Neon Union Breaking Up?
Brooks and Millsaps began Neon Union in 2022. Signed to the Christian label Red Street Records, they made quite an impact in their short time together. They performed at the Grand Ole Opry and were even nominated for New Duo or Group of the Year at the 2024 ACM Awards.
The message to fans didn't really get into the specific reasons why the duo has decided to go their "separate ways." It just shared that "this chapter of Neon Union is closing," and included separate statements from Brooks and Millsaps.
"I love Leo, and he will always be my friend and brother. I'm thankful for every chapter in my book of life. Neon Union was a very impactful and special chapter in that book. I've done things I've never dreamed possible and made lifelong memories," shared Millsaps.
He added, "From an ACM nomination to the Grand Ole Opry Circle, I cannot express how lucky and blessed I am to have been part of this journey, but I am ready for the next one. The closing of this chapter might be the end of one, but it's the beginning of the next. I'm excited for what's to come."
What Did Leo Brooks Say About the Breakup?
Both Neon Union members thanked their fans, while Brooks offered a little insight into the duo's future.
"Andrew will always be my friend and we will still write songs together," he wrote. "Big thanks to the whole Red Street team, now it's time to go wherever God leads me."
The duo has certainly been through a lot together. Last year, Millsaps shared that his then-fiancé called off their marriage "over text message, after four-and-a-half years and a ring."
The reason? She missed her family and wanted to come home. Who knows what would have happened if she had waited?
