Country artist Wyatt Flores says that he was "scared to fail" after experiencing breakout success. His debut album, Welcome to the Plains, left him with a lot of anxiety.

"I was starting to get scared of everything," the country artist told People. "I got to a point where it didn't matter what I was doing with my life. Whether it was personal or artist-related; it was just being scared of everything. I was so scared to fail that I wouldn't even try anymore, and that's something that I guess I've always struggled with, too."
The country artist says that he had to get out of his head and address the mental toil he was experiencing.

"It kind of just hit me one day that it was like, 'Hey, you got to wake up, bud, and keep on going,' and that's how this album really started going because I think I was more scared to get vulnerable," he said. "I need to fail - I need to fail multiple times. I need to keep failing. If I stop failing, then I've quit trying."
He ended up throwing caution to the wind for Scared of Heights.
"There came a point where it just wasn't as freeing there for a while," he admits. "And now it's finally coming back to where I really do have a great balance in life of working, but also knowing that when I do get to play music, that's not the work part. That is the freeing part."
He said that he has now realized who he is as an artist and who he wants to be as well.
"I finally got to a point now personally, and it's starting to come out artistically where I am able to stand on business because I know who I am," he affirms. "I finally am starting to figure that out and be like, 'Oh, this is it.' There was such a long time where I split my life. I couldn't figure it out. I was like, 'Who am I supposed to be?' And then finally, it was just like, 'You idiot, it's the same person.'"
