Vince Gill and Daughter Corrina Grant Gill Honor Amy Grant In 2020 Performance Of 'When My Amy Prays'

In February 2020, singer-songwriter and famed Christian artist Amy Grant was awarded the Tony Martell Outstanding Entertainment Achievement Award at the T.J. Martell Foundation Honors Gala held in Nashville, Tennessee. The T.J. Martell Foundation is a music industry foundation which funds innovative medical research and focuses on finding cures for cancer. The annual Honors Gala awards supporters of the foundation while raising money for the cause. In 2020, the event raised $1 million for cancer research.

Prior to Grant's acceptance of the award, Grant's husband and country music icon Vince Gill and their daughter Corrina Grant Gill took to the stage for a very special duet. Vince Gill's daughter joined her dad on the piano as he sat on a stool in the middle of the stage to sing an original song, "When My Amy Prays." It was the first time the father daughter duo performed the song together. In the Grammy-winning song, the country singer sings about feeling closest to God when his wife prays. Gill also sings about how Grant gave him his first Bible. "When My Amy Prays" is a song about Gill's personal relationship with God, but overall, it's a touching tribute to his wife.

"But when my Amy prays / When my Amy prays / That's when I see His face," the country legend sings in the reverent tune.

In the T.J. Martell Honors Gala live performance of the song, Gill's one-of-a-kind voice shines through every word and his daughter's piano playing only serves to emphasize the emotion of the song. At the end of the performance, Gill waves to the audience and takes Corrina's hand for a bow.

"When My Amy Prays" is featured on Gill's 2019 album, Okie. The song earned Gill his 22nd Grammy Award in 2021, taking home the Best Country Solo Performance trophy. Gill chatted with CMT about the song in March.

"It's just a testament to how much I care about her and how dear she is to me in my life," Gill said about his wife. "Kindness is how she leads her life and it's the first thing you ever notice, it's the first thing you ever experience, and it's kind of unending."

Together, Gill and Grant share a long-lasting love story. The two music legends met in 1993, and after years of friendship, were married in 2000. They now reside in Tennessee. Both artists were previously married before tying the knot -- Gill to singer Janis Oliver and Grant to fellow Christian artist Gary Chapman. Corrina Grant Gill is the couple's only child together, and Gill has one daughter, Jenny Gill, from his first marriage. Grant has three other children -- Matthew Garrison Chapman, Sarah Cannon Chapman, and Gloria Mills Millie Chapman -- from her first marriage.

Gill's other daughter Jenny Gill also seems to share her father's musical talents, having released her own music over the years, and the entire Grant/Gill family has often performed together. In April 2020, Vince Gill, Amy Grant, Jenny Gill, and Corrina Grant Gill performed "You Are My Sunshine" on a Saturday night production of the Grand Ole Opry.

Gill and wife Amy Grant have both had storied careers in country music and Christian music, respectively. Gill has received a total of 22 Grammy awards and countless others from the Academy of Country Music and the Country Music Association. Grant has taken home six Grammy awards and 22 Dove awards.
