Corrections Officer Ends Up In Jail At Same Jail He Worked

Cameron Boucher, a 22-year-old man from Tacoma, Washington State, was arrested on New Year's Day. Allegedly, he had an altercation with his ex-girlfriend in a parking lot where Boucher ended up driving his truck over his ex-girlfriend's head, with her suffering multiple face fractures. For context, Boucher is a Pierce County Sheriff's Department deputy, meaning he was put in the same jail he had been working for the last few months.

According to The News Tribune, the incident took place before 2 a.m. on January 1. Reportedly, both Boucher and his ex-girlfriend had been drinking separately at the same bar. Once both of them left the bar, the woman approached Boucher in an attempt to talk to him. Witnesses then state that, at a specific moment, Boucher's ex-girlfriend fell to the ground. It is unclear whether she fell due to being intoxicated or if Boucher had done something.

Either way, Boucher, according to witnesses, knew his ex-girlfriend was on the ground. He entered the driver's seat and started the engine. He then allegedly backed up, "striking (the victim's) head with the front driver-side wheel," according to a police report. While a witness attempted to stop Boucher by punching the truck's window, Boucher allegedly continued to back up his truck. The victim continued screaming as her head sustained serious injuries.

Arrested And Charged

Eventually, a bystander helped the victim and pulled her out of the way of Boucher's truck. One witness entered a physical altercation with Boucher and two others held him down until police arrived. Police then arrested Cameron Boucher and found that his blood alcohol content was 0.19, far beyond the 0.08 driving legal limit in Washington state.

Authorities then charged Boucher with vehicular assault on Thursday, January 2. Police escorted Boucher to Pierce County jail, where he had been working since August when he joined the force. During the arraignment hearing on Thursday, a not-guilty plea was entered on his behalf, and a Pierce County Superior Court set his bail at $75,000.

According to KING5, the Pierce County Sheriff's Department terminated Cameron Boucher from his position at the jail on Friday, January 3.
