James Handy did not die peacefully. The Top Gun: Maverick star was allegedly stabbed to death by his girlfriend's son. The incident occurred at their home in Los Angeles. According to The New York Post, Handy suffered choking injuries to his neck and stab wounds to his torso.

"The 81-year-old star of hit movies including "Jumanji" and "Arachnophobia" suffered choking injuries to his neck and stab wounds to his torso when Michael Gledhill allegedly attacked him at the Tarzana residence on June 3, authorities said," The New York Post reports.
According to reports, Handy had found himself in an argument with his alleged murderer on the porch of his girlfriend's home.
"When the alteration turned physical, Gledhill, 44, allegedly choked and mounted Handy before dragging him to the side of the house before going back inside to retrieve what appeared to be a knife," The New York Post continued.
Unfortunately for Handy, the alleged murderer later returned with a weapon. That's when Handy was allegedly stabbed multiple times, leaving him on the floor, dying from his wounds.
Police were scrambled to the scene. Of course, Handy was then taken to the nearest hospital. However, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Before his death, Handy was a beloved actor. He'd played roles in some major cinematic productions throughout his time in Hollywood.
In 1995, Handy played the exterminator in Jumanji, a movie that ultimately became a classic and is still watched by tens of millions of people each year. The same can be said for his role in Logan in 2017, where Handy played the old doctor.
Earlier in his career, Handy had worked on multiple television shows, often in cameo roles. Some of the more popular shows he appeared on were Murder She Wrote, The West Wing, Melrose Place, and Beverley Hills 90210.
Handy was highly experienced as an actor. He will undoubtedly be missed. Currently, no further information regarding the investigation into his murderer has been released. Those details will ultimately find their way into the public eye once the investigation eventually reaches its conclusion.
