Controversial Comedian Tanks ‘SNL’ Performance for the Second Time, Drops F-Bomb

Shane Gillis and 'Saturday Night Live' do not go well together. It's become a fact of life. Yet now and then we get another train wreck.

Shane Gillis and Saturday Night Live do not go well together. It's become a fact of life. Yet, from time to time, we'll be treated to another attempt at both sides making things work, only to remember just how bad a fit the two really are.

On Saturday, October 10, Gillis returned to host Saturday Night Live for what was the third time since he was fired from the show in 2019. As you would expect, it was a brutal watch, with Gillis tanking the opportunity.

It all began when the controversial comedian tried to play on his weight issues.

"I tried to go to a public gym. Going to the public gym as a fat guy, especially in New York, is a nightmare, dude," he began, via Variety. "It's just the hottest gay guys you've ever seen. They're jacked and they look at me, like, 'Yeah, right.' 'I know, dude.'"

Gillis' set then began falling even further off the rails, as he began commenting on the way some women choose to dress when attending the gym.

"Also, I haven't been to the gym in so long I didn't know women just dress like wh---s now?" he said, drawing audible groans from the audience. "Look, I'm sorry, there's no other way to describe [it]. Have you seen it? I've seen it. You've seen the shorts? They're those neon, like, artificial vape-colored [shorts], and the wrinkles go around the cheeks and all combine at the butthole. And don't look! You're not allowed to look. For real, don't look, because they are filming. I'm in the background of ten TikToks right now."

Shockingly, the Shane Gillis Set Got Even Worse

If you thought that was bad, hold on to your hats, because things are about to get a whole lot worse. After insulting himself and both men and women who go to the gym, Gillis then decided to bring up Adolf Hitler.

"I'll tell you the thing that I'm really bothered by is: I've balded directly into an Adolf Hitler haircut," he joked. "And it's not good. Because I give a lot of speeches and the front falls down a lot, and there's no way to adjust it without looking exactly like him. It's the only way..."

Shockingly, it somehow took a turn even deeper into the doldrums. During a skit on the show, Gillis managed to let an f-bomb slip out. In fairness, he caught himself, but by then it was too late. While the audience may have seen it as funny, those watching at home were likely far from pleased.

Look, there's no denying that Gillis is a talented comedian. The problem isn't that he can't write or deliver jokes. It's that he doesn't know how to read the room and create a monologue that fits Saturday Night Live.

It might be best if Gillis and Saturday Night Live remain far apart moving forward. For both of their sakes.
