Cole Hauser Was Worried That 'Yellowstone' Would Lose Its Audience by Season 5

Hauser is grateful for the 'Yellowstone' fans.

Yellowstone fans are still awaiting part 2 of the show's fifth and final season, and show star Cole Hauser, who plays Rip Wheeler, admits he was concerned about fans following the show during its hiatus. In a new interview with Esquire promoting Hauser's new coffee brand, Free Rein, Hauser shared his worry that "Yellowstone" fans would drift away from the show due to its still-foggy return plans. Luckily, as Hauser told the publication, those worries were unfounded.

"I was worried that we might lose our audience before Season Five, but it was quite the opposite," he tells Esquire. "The fanbase truly loves not just my character, but everyone. It's pretty special to know that people care that much. That's certainly what you do it for. Now, going on this press tour, it really means a lot that they love this coffee, too. It's an honor."

Currently, there is still no return date for "Yellowstone" Season 5 Part 2. The confusion about the return of the show began with a dispute between showrunner Taylor Sheridan and star Kevin Costner about his contract. That, coupled with the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, has delayed the second half of the fifth season for months. Producers originally slated part 2 of Season 5 to premiere this past summer, and a premiere date in November was later announced. For now, it looks like the rest of the "Yellowstone" series will see a premiere in 2024. Part 1 of Season 5 premiered in November of 2022, and the latest episode aired on Jan. 1, 2023.

Although fans will need to wait a little longer to see the conclusion of "Yellowstone," there are multiple spinoff shows coming soon. A new season of Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren-led "1923" is on the way, as well as a few new shows, including "1944" and the yet-to-be-named Matthew McConaughey sequel series. A brand new Sheridan-produced Western series, "Lawmen: Bass Reeves," which doesn't have a connection to the "Yellowstone" storyline, is also set to premiere on Paramount+ this November.

"Yellowstone" Seasons 1-5 Part 1 are currently streaming on Peacock.
