Texas singer-songwriter Cody Johnson paid tribute to George Strait with a stripped-down rendition of one of his biggest career hits.

In celebration of George’s upcoming Strait Out of the Box: Part 2, artists have been sharing covers of their favorite Strait tracks. While sitting in a picturesque field, Johnson puts his heart into “You Look So Good in Love,” which hit No. 1 in 1984. Check out the performance below.

Johnson has had plenty to be thankful for this year. His album, Gotta Be Me, made it to No. 2 on the country charts earlier this summer. After years of grinding on the Texas tour circuit, it seems like his stellar music is finally breaking through to the masses.

If you’re like me and can’t get enough George Strait tunes, check out Aaron Watson’s cover of “Amarillo By Morning.” Randy Rogers also supplied a stellar version of his 2006 track, “Wrapped.”

We met up with Johnson on his tour bus earlier this year to talk about his new album and how he approaches his music. Watch the interview and see exclusive live performances of his latest music in the video below.
