It was four months ago that Alyssa Farah Griffin shared that her baby son underwent emergency surgery at 2 months old. The first-time mom and The View co-host recently shared an update on his condition.

Alyssa Farah Griffin Shares an "Amazing" Update
Alyssa shared with PEOPLE that her now-7-month-old son, Justin Patrick Griffin Jr., is recovering well after his time in the intensive care unit (ICU).
"He's doing amazing," the 37-year-old co-host of The View said before sharing another aspect of his treatment.
"We're in a helmet for a year, which honestly, as a first-time mom, I kind of appreciate," Alyssa said. "I'm like, it's just another safety mechanism."
The former White House communications director didn't share why Justin has to wear the helmet. She added that she is astonished by how quickly he recovered from his health scare.
"Babies are so resilient. They're miracles," Alyssa said. "He will never know the surgery he had. He'll never feel anything from it."
She then added, "He's great. He's so sharp. He's just perfect."
The Surgery Made "The View" Co-Host Emotional
Justin had his "major operation" at 2 months old, which required an ICU stay. Alyssa didn't share the reason for the surgery. She explained on an episode of The View's Behind the Table podcast that talking about it would make her emotional.
"My son ended up needing a major operation," Alyssa explained on The View's Behind the Table podcast. "I'm actually not going to get into the details only because I will just turn into a puddle talking about it, but he had to get a surgery this weekend. So we spent the weekend in the ICU with him."
The View co-host said the operation had gone "beyond well." Justin's doctor told her that he was doing better than expected and was hitting every milestone.
"It was the most terrifying thing of my life," Alyssa said about that moment. "When your child is unhealthy or in danger, it has a way of just, the whole world stops... Anything could be happening in the world, and that is my one job, is to protect this child. And thank God for amazing doctors, nurses, his neurosurgeon. He is just amazing. So he's amazing and healthy."
Justin was born in February after Alyssa and her husband underwent a long fertility journey that included five rounds of IVF.
Alyssa shared that being a mom is "the most magical, fun thing I've ever done."
