Clay Walker is going to star in a new film, about the life and career of Randy Travis. The two singers announced the news earlier this week, while on stage at the Grand Ole Opry. Travis' wife Mary and renowned producer Eric Groth will produce the film. Walker will serve as the executive producer and also star in the movie.

"We've been working on something behind the scenes for about a year and a half," Walker shares. "We finally get to talk about it. I gotta tell you, it's been really tough on me not being able to talk about this ... We're going to be producing the first and most epic Randy Travis biopic — a movie about Randy Travis' life."
Forever and Ever, Amen will cover three different stages of Travis' life, beginning when he was a child, and going all the way to the present day.
"They're going to have the young Randy, the kid, and then the 20 to 30-something. And then I'm going to play the 40 to 50. I don't know why they didn't pick me for the 20," Walker quips. "But this is a dream come true. We've been talking about this for a long time. And a lot of times these things never come to fruition. But the good Lord has had his hand in this, and we're gonna make the best movie about this man's life."
What Randy Travis Has To Say About Forever and Ever, Amen
Travis's 2013 stroke unfortunately took away his ability to speak well. But in a statement, the Country Music Hall of Fame member shares what this movie means to him.
"We've been approached many times through the years about doing a movie... but the timing or team has never felt quite as good as it feels right now," Travis says. "With Clay on our side, and the creative direction he and the producers have, I feel good about telling my story through this medium."
Walker has been friends with Travis for a long time. He was on hand when Travis released "Where That Came From" in 2024, marking Travis's first new song since his stroke, created with the help of AI.
"I'm so happy for my friend - the legendary Randy Travis, " Walker said at the time. "Thank you for letting me hear this new song... it's going to blow people away."
Travis just released another song, "Horses In Heaven."
