Chris Stapleton has a new gig as the narrator for the Kentucky Department of Tourism's "Better in the Bluegrass" campaign. As a Lexington native, Stapleton knows the charms of the Bluegrass State well, so he lent his endearing voice to promote Kentucky tourism.
"It's when you take that first bite, savoring the unforgettable taste of Kentucky, and you realize: It's better in the bluegrass," Stapleton states at the end of each of the current three videos. The 5-time country music Grammy award winner sounds like he's reading poetry as he describes the food and bourbon of his home state.
The "Better in the Bluegrass" campaign is particularly focusing on the flavors of the state. According to their website, the Department of Tourism worked with historians, chefs and farmers to develop a signature meal for each of the state's nine regions. Travelers with tastebuds ready can grab a "Culinary Passport" to mark off when they try each of the official meals in a designated State Park restaurant of each region.

Kentucky's Department of Tourism is excited to have Stapleton's recognizable voice on board. The organization's Commissioner Kristen Branscum stated, "The passion, sincerity and tone that Chris conveys through his music are a perfect match for the stories we want to tell. We are proud to be working with a world-renowned Kentucky artist as the voice of this campaign that will invite people from across the world to his home state."
If you want to hear his smooth voice in person, Stapleton is currently on his 2018 All-American Road Show Tour. He has a stop in Lexington coming up on October 27 at the Rupp Arena, but it will probably come as no surprise to learn that it's already sold out.
