In February, the world of country radio convenes in Nashville for the Country Radio Seminar. Artists perform their songs for radio movers and shakers in hopes of getting their material more airplay.
At the Universal Music Group Showcase at the Ryman Auditorium on Tuesday, Chris Stapleton treated a crowd of radio programmers to "Either Way", a song he had no intention of pushing to radio.
Stapleton, who has written hits for many country artists, wrote "Either Way" with songwriters Kendell Marvel and Tim James years ago. The heartbreaking song is about a broken relationship that's passed the point of mending.
Lee Ann Womack recorded "Either Way" for her 2008 release, Call Me Crazy, and Stapleton provided backup vocals on the track.
In the video below, Stapleton delivers a superb solo rendition of the song. His powerful voice amplified by the otherworldly acoustics of the Ryman made this performance something truly special.
Stapleton will continue to tour throughout the 2016. He hasn't released any info about making a new album, but he did mention in his performance that "it's about time for me to start thinking about making another one."
