Watch the 2016 Music Video of the Year, Chris Stapleton's Powerful 'Fire Away'

Chris Stapleton's Fire Away music video won the 2016 video of the year award.

With over a million copies sold, Chris Stapleton's debut album Traveller was definitely a hit, and will go down as one of country music's best albums. In addition to the incredible songs, Stapleton also created a powerful video for the song "Fire Away." The country star took home the 2016 CMA Award for Music Video of the Year, as well as Male Vocalist of the Year for this song with a powerful statement.

Creating the video for this song, wasn't easy for the singer, however. Along with being the first video for the album, it also covers a sensitive topic: mental health and suicide. Actor Ben Foster and actress Margarita Levieva use the singer-songwriter's words to help bring mental health awareness to the forefront. They deliver poignant performances as a young married couple, with Foster's character reflecting on the happy memories as well as the bad.

Throughout the song, Chris sings about loving someone unconditionally, even through the hard times. The video explores a relationship torn apart by mental illness, and ultimately, suicide. was video of the year

The Fire Away video was mean to raise awareness for mental health prevention through the Campaign to Change Direction. In the video below, Chris Stapleton joins director, Tim Mattia, and the video's stars to discuss how they put the video together.

Obviously, Stapleton definitely took a risk by focusing on this subject for "Fire Away," but as the plan came together, he and those who chose to back him on this video saw the power behind the message and the ways it could change the world for the better.

Chris Stapleton's "Fire Away" Lyrics:

Honey load up your questions
And pick up your sticks and your stones
And pretend I'm a shelter for heartaches
That don't have a home
Choose the words that cut like a razor
And all that I'll say

Is fire away
Take your best shot
Show me what you got
Honey, I'm not afraid
Rear back and take aim
And fire away

Well, I wish I could say
That I've never been here before
But you know and I know
That I'll always come back for more
Your love might be my damnation
But I'll cry to my grave

Fire away
Take your best shot
Show me what you got
Honey, I'm not afraid
Rear back and take aim
And fire away

Ah, fire away
Take your best shot
Show me what you got
Honey, I'm not afraid
Rear back and take aim
And fire away
Fire away
Ah fire away
Fire away
