Chip Gaines Reveals New Details of His Upcoming Book

Chip Gaines and his wife, Joanna, joined the Today Show this morning (July 18) to reveal the cover of his brand new book.

Capital Gaines: Smart Things I Learned Doing Stupid Stuff isn't Chip's first foray into authorship, but it's the first book he's penned solo. What to put on the cover of his first memoir took a lot of consideration — and some input from fans.

Gaines took to social to see what his fans thought, offering up three choices. In the end, the one he picked wasn't a fan favorite, but it jumped out at him.

Gaines went with the only close-up shot for the official cover. This picture was taken before he even arrived on set. He was on the way to the photo shoot when one of the photographers nabbed the candid shot, he told Today.

While Capital Gaines is a memoir, Gaines is hoping readers get more out of it than his story. "I want people to know that they can take risks in life and achieve what they think is impossible, even with a few bumps in the road along the way," he said in a press release.

Gaines rose to success on HGTV's Fixer Upper along with his wife, Joanna. The power couple has expanded their empire to include a bakery, magazine, and new restaurant. They recently got their first Emmy nomination.

Capital Gaines will be in stores on Oct. 7, but it's currently available for pre-order.
