Since Chip and Joanna Gaines purchased Waco’s Elite Café, they’ve been renovating the 100-year-old building, and now, they’ve finally given it a new name.
“We want everyone, whether you’re part of the building’s past or not, to walk in and instantly feel the rich history of it,” says Joanna on her blog. “We’ve spent a good amount of time finalizing the design of the new restaurant- from carefully choosing finishes, textures, and paint colors, to designing the tables, chairs, and light fixtures.”
Throughout the design, renovation, and menu building, their goal has been clear: “Our hope is that when you step into this place, you know that everyone has a seat at our table.” Thus, the name they’ve chosen for their new restaurant: Magnolia Table.
Magnolia Table will serve breakfast, brunch & lunch. You’ll find menu items such as Chip’s famous ham sandwich, farm eggs benedict, the Gaines Brothers Burger, and homemade pies.
“I love getting to bring all of the design details together,” Joanna continues. “The building was actually recognized as a historic landmark about 20 years ago, which essentially ensures that aspects of the original character stay intact. Figuring out how to restore the building and seamlessly incorporate new and creative design elements into the mix while staying true to the original features has been one of my favorite parts of the design process.”
The couple seems excited to breathe some new energy into the historic building. As Chip and Joanna Gaines suggested earlier, the new restaurant is on track to open later in 2017. Your seat (at Magnolia Table) is almost ready!
